Dear Malinois Enthusiasts,
We hope you find our web page informative and helpful in obtaining
information on this wonderful breed. Whether you already own a Malinois or
are looking into the purchase of one please feel free to contact us with
any questions you might have. Head shot is a photo of French import Ring
III male, Oslo du Calvaire Aux Acacias
I purchased Oslo in France and
he came to live with us in October 2001. Oslo
is a tremendous working malinois with strong character and work ethic.
Our breeding goal has always been to produce quality working dogs. Malinois are used by the French police and Army, as well as being a popular sport dog for French Ring Sport, Pistage (Tracking), Schutzhund, Agility, and Herding. They are also used as Search and Rescue dogs, Therapy dogs and are enjoyed especially for their companionship, loyalty, trainability, and protective nature.
Our dogs are from the best working lines from France
and Belgium. Ron and I were the proud owners of
CH.Duc du Creux Thatcher who is easily one of the most beautiful and most highly titled working dogs
to ever be imported to the States. Additionally he has a spectacular
working pedigree and is an excellent producer of both working drives, stability
and excellent structure. Duc passed away on Monday, November 19, 2001. Our female, Int/Mex CH.
Jessy du Domaine la Rocheliere is French Ring II. Jessy is owner trained
and titled in French Ring Sport. She is a pretty female with excellent
temperament and trainability (Jessy photo at bottom of page & top left on
podium, 1st place FRII Chicago trial). Jessy is retired now and resides as
a house dog and jogging companion in San Diego. We have sold dogs for police work, Search
& Rescue, Schutzhund, French Ring Sport, Agility, Herding, Obedience,
Tracking, Family companion and Protection work.
We raise 1-3 litters of Malinois per year so it is important to contact us early as normally many of our puppies are reserved in advance. We extensively socialize our puppies with the help of friends and their children and expose them to cats, other dogs and different surroundings. Because we are active in Ring Sport and Sage Club meets at our field 1-2 times per week, we have the advantage of socializing and training the young puppies in a working environment as well. This means that starting at a young age, they play puppy bite work and retrieve games with various people and during a lot of distractions (dogs being worked, barking dogs, gun-shots, clatter stick and with groups of people). I feel that it is important to be around the puppies from birth until they go to their new homes and feel that it is necessary to be at home with them. If I worked a job that required me to leave the home for long hours most days then we would never consider breeding the dogs.
We suggest when considering purchasing from any breeder to always *ask for references, *visit or have a friend visit the kennel to see how the dogs are raised and what training is actually done with them. There are many breeders that house their dogs in small runs or crates most of the day and are home rarely to even look in on the dogs and puppies. Please do your research before purchasing a puppy or dog from anyone over the Internet and be sure they can back up what they say and be sure that the dogs and puppies are raised in good conditions. Do not believe photos or videos because these can be done at a different location and/or years before. The Malinois are our passion (hobby) that my husband and I cherish. We are 100% dedicated and make the sacrifices necessary so that I can stay home with our beloved dogs and raise and train them. We are involved in the Belgian Malinois Rescue effort and have rescued over 10 dogs and puppies in the past year alone. If you want more information on rescue dogs that are available or to be put on a list for a rescue Malinois, please contact me or AMERICAN BELGIAN MALINOIS RESCUE PAGE Note: This link takes you off our page. Because we are founding members of Sage Working Dog Club meets at our field 1-2 times per week, we have the advantage of socializing and training the young puppies in a working environment as well. We strongly believe in training and titling (working titles) potential breeding stock. We do not feel that raising dogs in a kennel and showing dogs in conformation shows exclusively is the correct way to breed and select breeding stock. Only by working dogs and training in a discipline (herding, Schutzhund, Mondioring, SAR, Police, tracking, etc.) can one really know the temperament and trainability of a dog. Training and working dogs place a certain amount of "stress" and puts rules and conditions on the dog and shows you the true temperament of a dog.
I, work at home and spend the majority of my time
with our dogs that live here. This includes training the dogs in Protection
Sport
(Agility, Obedience, Protection) and also many runs with the dogs during the
week when I ride horseback. We are fortunate to own acreage in a very
rural mountain area in Southern California. The dogs and I are able to go
for miles without encountering fences or another ranch and there are streams and
ponds and many mountain trails for the dogs to enjoy. My husband, Ron is
partners in
Temecula Iron Works. Ron has been a certified French Ring Decoy, MondioRing
Decoy, Certified NAPD Decoy and accomplished training decoy. Photo at
right is Ron decoying "Rindy", a very hard import male Malinois. I
co-imported Scorpion in August 2000. Rindy is a great dog and I am
impressed with his fighting drive and heart. During
the evenings we train the dogs on our field in MondioRing Sport. Our
dogs are part of our lifestyle and they go where we go whenever possible.
The dogs come
indoors with us at different times. They also have large cross fenced
"play area" to romp in with each other. Our main emphasis in breeding Malinois will continue to be to produce agile,
stable dogs with good work ethic (strong drives, energetic) and healthy
and sound structure. We only breed working pedigreed dogs and most
of our breeding stock is titled in French Ring Sport. All of our dogs
have hip certifications and X-rayed "normal" elbows and eyes are checked (CERF). We feed
mainly natural
bones, meat, tripe.
